HE President Marc RAVALOMANANA visits the victims of the cyclone Fame

           

      The President of the Republic HE Marc Ravalomanana personally visited the two Municipalities strongly affected by the passage of the last cyclone Fame, Besalampy and Soalala, in order to note the damage there with his own eyes, on February 04, 2008. To the sights of the extent of the damage undergone by the aforementioned localities, the President of the Republic gave order to address the situation as a matter of emergency, as soon as possible.

     As soon as he arrived arrival in Besalampy and Soalala, the President of the Republic at once asked the local populations there to collect the complaints and evaluate the needs for these localities. It came out that the rehabilitation and the rebuilding of the buildings and the infrastructures destroyed by the cyclone must be done quickly, so as to offer a new face and a modern aspect to these communes. Work of rehabilitation will have imperatively to be done as fast as possible, in accordance with modern building standards and requirements.

      For Besalampy , President Ravalomanana donated an envelope of 100 million ariary in order to help the inhabitants to set up all the infrastructures and to provide for the vital needs for the disaster victims. This amount will also be used for the benefit of the populations of the neighbouring communes, and which were touched by the disaster

Will be thus restored in their original state or completely rebuilt:
- Schools. According to the President, it is necessary to completely demolish all destroyed constructions and to rebuild the complete buildings. The criteria and the standards of the most rigorous construction will have to be retained and observed for this purpose, so that the pupils and the schoolboys can as fast as possible take again the classes in new buildings.
- Administrative offices and buildings: town hall, district.
- Churches, hospitals and maternities.

     Besalampy will be also equipped with new networks, as well as tools of communication such as transmitters, provided with 10 tons of rice and prefabricated houses being able to resist a wind of 240km per hour.

         Organizations are in sight or already present on the spot to bring their support to this commune:
- According to the President of the Republic, the community of the SADC having already been advised of the situation of Besalampy, the visit of its President in Madagascar on next 17 February will be made profitable to submit the case of this locality to the organization.
- Moreover, the National Office of Risk management and Catastrophes (BNGRC), FID, UNICEF, the Malagasy red Cross have already deployed their people on the spot to support the disaster victims.,,
