COMING TO MADAGASCAR A great deal of number of new mining and oil companies are now settling in Madagascar. Lalaharisaina J. Valérien, acting director general of the " Office des mines nationales et des industries stratégiques " (Omis), has announced the coming of a dozen of new companies during 2007, "the current global context increases the interest mining and oil companies have for Madagascar natural resources", he explained. The main products of interest include crude oil, uranium, coal, and bauxite. Those companies settling in Madagascar come from a diverse number of countries. Candax-East African exploration carries out prospective activities in the Mahajanga basin.
