An official delegation of the Eastern Cape government, South Africa, led by the MEC for Agriculture, Mr. G. Nkwinti, has left for Madagascar, on a working visit on August 22, and will leave Madagascar, for the trip back to South africa, on August 29, 2007.
The visit is a direct response to the visit of the Consul General of Madagascar in Cape Town, HE Bary Rafatrolaza, in August last year to the Premier of the Easter Cape Mrs. Nosimo Balindlela, during which regional cooperation were discussed. The delegation that includes two MECs is expected to meet with several Malagasy Officials, including members of the government and Heads of Regions.
The Consul General, who got ahead of the delegation in Madagascar to prepare for their arrival, is expected to accompany them in their visit to certain regions, where possibility of cooperation at local government level, specially in agriculture, will be examined. The delegation will particularly investigate the possible of developing the cultivation of Aloe ferrox, plant with pharmaceutical properties, in the Boeny region (North-West of Madagascar).
