As part of the project concerning regional
collaboration between the provincial government
of the Eastern Cape and participating regions of
Madagascar, the Consul general of Madagascar
in Cape Town, Mr. Bary E. Rafatrolaza, has
realised a week working visit to the Eastern
Cape Province, from 07/07 to 12/07/2008.
The said project concerns the definition of a frame work of economic educational and cultural collaboration, between the South African province of Eastern Cape on one hand and the regions of Betsiboka, Melaky and Boeny of Madagascar on the other hand. Within the same frame work is envisaged the twinning of a school in the province of Eastern Cape (Sapphire Road Primary) with respectively two schools of Madagascar.
During the trip the consul general visited the cities of Bisho and Port Elizabeth respectively administrative and economic Capital of the Province, as well as East London. He met with the Premier of Eastern Cape, Honourable Nosimo BALINDLELA, had working sessions with different provincial Ministers and attended a provincial cabinet's meeting.
Mr. Rafatrolaza also visited the following establishments: Sapphire Road Primary where he was received by the Principal of the school, a dairy farm (Amadlelo Agri) and the pilot training centre 43 Air School.
"The visit was very fruitful and paves the way for a mutually beneficial decentralised co-operation between the Province of the Eastern Cape and participating regions of our Country", said the Consul General on his return from the trip.
A delegation of Experts from the Eastern Cape would go to Madagascar as soon as possible to finalize and sign, with their counterparts in Madagascar, the memorandum of understanding with regard to the said project.
A team of experts from the Eastern Cape had already visited Madagascar in 2007 on a fact finding mission, especifically to identify activities and meet with regional Leaders who would be part of the project.
