The law on investments under consideration
This shows that
the State really wants to attract foreign direct investments in order to
reflate the economy. Actually, the investments are relatively weak compared with
the measures implemented.
The publication of the Investments Charter will
answer to the investors’ expectations because it will give the opportunity for a
better readability, stability and equity of the regulation environment in its
functioning.

Livestock : the Authorities remain confident face to the avian flu
threat
Actually, Madagascar has nothing to fear about the avian flu.
Twelve regions might be among the critical areas but they are strictly kept
under surveillance. The Minister of Agriculture confirmed yesterday the good
health of the Malagasy livestock face to the threat but he said that every body
must be vigilant. Madagascar is among the rare country which is not yet affected
by the H5N1 virus. The Ministry of Health decided to apply preventive measures
in ten points against the avian flu. Among that, all the feathered animals
coming from foreign countries must be put quarantine to prevent the transmission
of the avian flu.

FMI : Brian Ames in Madagascar to pursue the process towards the
FRPC
A delegation of the IMF lead by Brian Ames arrived in
Madagascar last week-end. From yesterday, the workshops with the Malagasy
authorities began, particularly with the technicians of the Ministry of Economy,
Finances and Budget.
This mission of the IMF will centre principally on the
pursuit of the country’s macro-economic situation assessment. This is made to
establish a new plan of the FRPC or Access for the Reduction of the Poverty and
for the Growth. In 2005, Madagascar has completed his plan about the FRPC; a
program of 91.65 millions of DTS entirely released in March 2005. This success
was one of the reasons of the release the sixth installment of 17.2 millions USD
as well as the eligibility of Madagascar among the 19 countries receiving the
reinforced IPPTE.

Halieutic resources: For a better organization of the traditional
fishing
Since yesterday, an international workshop for the small
scale fishing management is held at Antananarivo. This workshop wants to
initiate an organization within this field. The formalization of the traditional
aspect would the solution. With this institution of an organization on the
traditional field, the authorities want to inculcate some discipline to the
fishermen.
